Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy that involves powerful strategies for improved emotional regulation balanced with acceptance and compassion. It is a comprehensive treatment program originally designed to address the needs of clients with severe and complex emotion dysregulation problems caused by Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Emotion dysregulation is at the core of a variety of disorders that result in extreme, impulsive, or highly dysfunctional behaviors, and DBT utilizes strategies that directly and thoroughly address these emotion challenges.

Research on DBT as an effective treatment for trauma is still ongoing, but many studies already completed show that DBT produces significantly higher recovery rates than other commonly used methods of treatment for trauma. Trauma survivors have shown continued improvement even 6 weeks after completing treatment, showing that the skills they learned from DBT continue to help them long after the actual treatment is complete.

Specific skills mastered in DBT are:

  • Mindfulness - staying present in the moment even during stressful times

  • Distress Tolerance - getting through highly stressful times gracefully, and without making things worse

  • Emotion Regulation - learning to understand your emotions, what triggers them, and how to manage and regulate them

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness - asserting your needs, communicating effectively and maintaining relationships


Each DBT course listed below is designed to help those experiencing symptoms of emotional dysregulation brought on by trauma, anxiety, our living in an extended period of fight / flight nervous system activation.

In this 6-month course, we spend a considerable amount of time focused on each of the 4 areas of DBT Skills. We will pay special attention to the specific areas that will benefit you most and address how these exercises will look in your every day life.

We meet via zoom weekly for one hour where we work on a specific skill or set of skills together, then plan additional blocks of time during your week for you to continue this work independently. I check in with you one additional time during the week via text or email. This work is typically most beneficial when you focus on these exercises for about 30 minutes each day in addition to our one-hour sessions.

INVESTMENT: $2,497 payable before the first session

  • 3 Payments (made during initial 3 months of coaching): $850 each payment

  • 6 Monthly Payments: $450 each month

In this 12 week course is an abbreviated version of the longer 6 month course. We spend time focused on the most effective skills in each of the 4 areas of DBT.
